21 Day Journey Walking with God Down The Narrow Road

Day 5

There is no substitute for obedience

Allow me to explain what I mean. There is a particular cab that I take from time to time to work but the driver doesn’t have the best personality towards people. While he is reliable when it comes to being punctual he is absolutely very proficient in the department of being nasty and negative about people, a trait I believe he has possessed most of his life.

Recently the Lord instructed me to not take his cab for work in the morning, and I had every intention of obeying Holy Spirit I promise you but when I awaken in the morning I was so sluggish that I dragged myself out of bed later than I normally would have which meant the best option was to call my reliable punctual cab driver.

And yes justifiably I did call the very driver I was instructed not to.
Now this driver also transports a friend of mine to work and usually he drops her off first and then I, and like clock work after her dropped her off he had somethings that were less than favorable to say about her. As he was speaking the Lord told me to say nothing just let him talk but little miss do it her way (me) decided to comment and that was when everything went down hill

I will not go into details about all that happened but I will tell you this, I should have listened, and I should have done exactly what Holy Spirit said and things would have gone a completely different way

Ofcourse I had to repent and ask the Lord to forgive me for being disobedient because I realize this is what He was trying to protect me from

Oh, boy how many times have we found ourselves in situations that could have avoided had we listened to the Holy Spirit speaking to us. I know I have experienced it enough times to have known better but again I chose to do things my way

When we do that it creates chaos and God Himself has to come in and basically clean up the “mess”. I mean wouldn’t it have just been easier to listen the first time?

This is what God wants from us, for us to listen the first time without hesitation because He really knows what’s around the bend and as such He can protect us from any disaster

As I take time to go through the events, thinking about all that took place and what could have been avoided I willingly repented and asked the Lord to help me to obey without hesitation. That’s the first step, the next would be to actually do it

Here I am again at His feet
