21 Day Journey Walking with God Down The Narrow Road

Day 19

What if I told you that prayer does not always change things?

Ouch, not what you want to hear especially these days right? Well l am about to share a tid bit of my story in the hopes that it will help someone who is experiencing some form adversity right now, here goes

Prayer did not change my first husband from dying, in fact it did not even stop his pain. Prayer did not change the fact that I suffered verbal abuse from another man who promised to love me, it did not stop me from wanting to die because I felt that was the only way to escape him
Prayer did not stop the pain I felt as I watched my son in tears from missing his father
Prayer did not stop an accident that happened so bad causing me to never want to be in the driver’s seat again
Prayer did not stop me from having back pains for years from an accident that was not supposed to happen
Prayer did not even stop Christ from dying on the cross. So no prayer doesn’t always change things

What prayer does is it changes the person, it helps to strengthen us while still going through, it helps to give peace in situations that seems endless. No prayer does not always change things, it helps you to understand that when God created us He never promised a life free from heartache and pain.
What He promised is that while going through He would be there with us, what it does is give confirmation that whatever we may go through we can grow through

I mean yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death means just that, and while in the valley, while in the pit as long as you continue to go through it’s safe to say you will rise just like I did

I experienced all that ache, all that pain, all that discomfort so that today I could stand here. So that I could represent, so that I would finally be able to walk with God in the understanding that what I go through is never to kill me but to instead build me up and guess what it is the same for you

What you feel, what you experience is your story, not a story for you to be ashamed of, not a story for you to hide from, but a story for you to embrace and learn from

So as you pray, when you pray, remember it is helping you to build a solid relationship with God
It is helping to develop you in a great way, it is never to kill you but always to grow you

So no, prayer doesn’t change everything, but it can always make you better
