Application

The Church I worship at is considered a landmark in Harlem New York and as such every Sunday faithfully it’s filled with members as well as visitors from far and wide.

The Worship team in my opinion is definitely on fire and well the relaxed mode of dress makes it a comfortable environment for everyone.

Our Pastor is one of those black men who is educated and well spoken but also transparent and warm. A teacher who isn’t afraid to just be as he teaches the word of God.

This Sunday like usual he took over the pulpit and the atmosphere was transformed by his energy and what I like to call “Good Vibes”. He taught about celebrating oneself, validating oneself, affirming oneself.

You see like with Christ on Palm Sunday so long ago when people celebrated Him one day and then chose Barabbas over Him the next it shows just how fickle “man” can be.

He encouraged us to understand that people will be people and that’s ok as long as we dont get so lost and caught up in their praises that we forget how to hold our own selves up.

As we sat there listening the words seeped within me and of course when we got home I proceeded to ask my daughter if she understood what Pastor was saying. She did and was able to tell me what she understood from his teaching.

This to me is what Church should be about, the teaching aspect so when I leave, I leave with a lesson that will resonate throughout my spirit not just for the moment but for longer periods.

For me, it’s about the relationship and application of it all so that truly when my family sees me, they see also God’s reflection. My prayer therefore is simply, less of me Lord, more of You today and everyday
