What Adversity Does
Adversity comes to make us stronger that’s what we have been taught right that no matter what the obstacle, no matter what the trial as long as we never give up and we keep pushing we are sure to come out on top right?
Well what happens when that same adversity seems to stop you from doing your normal everyday routine? Do we still consider the keep pushing mentality?
Here’s what I have discovered lately. It doesn’t matter what the challenge big or small it is still pertinent for one to push forward for wallowing in what we deem to be pity only makes us feel worse. I tested that theory recently when I decided that because I was not feeling well to just not do anything. At first it seemed ok and i considered that I was just resting a bit but in actuality what I was doing was allowing what I was feeling to get the better of me and boy did it take a mental toll.
I had to seriously dig myself out of the mental pit by encouraging me to just breathe and trust that I was going to be ok. I had to pick myself up, fix myself up and begin to move about with determined steps all in an attempt to shake the so called “monkey ” off my back.
What I learned from this was that the aim is never to just lay down and accept what is going on in us instead we are to be so focused on wholeness and mental strength that despite the ache, despite the pain we must still press for in the pressing we are able to discover our true warrior.
Let us therefore turn to pressing first in spite of
